UWE Product Design graduate: Duncan Iraci

I graduated with a first class degree in CPD in June 08,

since leaving UWE I have worked as a freelance exhibition designer for Magmatic Ltd (the creators of Trunki), on two separate projects.

I have given a class on my experience of communication through design to a group of teenagers, interested in studying Graphic design.

I am currently the Events Director for the Bristol Design Festival which seeks to promote local

designers and companies and expose design to the general public.

UWE Product Design graduate: Lauren Potts

A recent email from Lauren who is now working at Williams F1

It is fantastic here! I am loving it!! I am now working in the Hydraulics department as a development technician. I am in training to become an Hydraulics Design Engineer and start the CAD course for NX next week. So it wont be long before I am designing parts and releasing drawings for production with my name at the bottom - a little scary!!

I just wanted to let you know,  just in case you could use it in any of your literature (or for any other purpose), that I will possibly be on the Morning and Lunchtime BBC1 News talking to some year 10 (14/15 yrs old) schoolgirls to support a new government initiative to promote more females into engineering and breakdown the gender bias within the discipline. Its also possible that I'll be on the BBC News website. I thought it could be good material for you/the uni if you had a shot of one of your previous students on the BBC News - talking about engineering?!!

Also just a quick thank you to you all at the uni that enabled me to get here!! In my most recent interview I used my dissertation as an example of my writing ability (for technical report writing in this role) and my first year 'Materials' module lab books as an example of my ability to carry out and record test and experiments in a laboratory environment. Then a read through my  'Engineering Principles' assignments and exercise books helped prepared me for the interview. All I learned in the three years with UWE - in some way, shape or form - has been of use to me in my working life so far...so...thank you!

Right I should have donned my white dust coat and started in the lab 20 minutes ago - so I better go!!

Best Regards

Lauren
